I will say that there is some evident repetition that is starting to feel obvious but not to a point of annnoyance. But yeah, crazy stuff started sprouting. And I knew this type of cliffhanger would come in this series but geez how was it possible that it still stressed me out.

Sigh* at this point I’m just riding it out to see how this mess ends. Again, writing is absolutely juvenile and verbose. So many pointless chapters in this book that do nothing for the plot. How many times will she change into her pajamas, take a shower or talk about her love of seafood? Oli has no character growth and has easily become my least favorite. The spicy scenes lack good narration, so I find myself skimming through them. All the twists and cliffhangers at the end lead to nothing, but more plot holes and inconsistencies. I found myself more upset about the smoke dog Brutus than Nox in the end… Hanging in there to see wtf becomes of this.

Same problems I’ve been having persist in this book. I’ve having a very hard time feeling fear and danger for these characters because the stakes are literally nowhere since we’ve gotten absolutely no detail about the background of the world and what this means for everyone. There are also no stakes because Oil seems to be extremelyyyy over-powered and literally solves everything. Why she hasn’t just ripped out everyone’s souls and called it a day, I’ll never know. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Also the relationship between Gifted and non-Gifted got even more confusing for me - apparently everyone knows about Gifted???? And their just…. fine with it??? SMH make it make sense - GIVE US SOME BACKGROUND. I also had a really hard time engaging with this book in the series - it was too long and much too one note.

This is a great addition to the series. I like that things are moving along with the bond group, but in general, things are moving so slowly.
I wish things with the resistance would either finish, or ramp massively so that something big is happening, rather than these little skirmishes.
Still, intrigued to see where the next book goes.

I'm broken. My heart has been cracked in half 😭 Let me just put the ending aside for now. This book starts off with Oli and her bond group trying to figure out if they really have a traitor in their midst. The situation with the resistance gets even more complicated and we definitely see a lot more of Oli's bond. New depths to some of Oli's Bonded powers are discovered.


There is so much happening in this book! But we still get some normal (well as normal as can be in a world like this) human moments that warm your heart. Oh and the spice definitely ramps up a bit!


There's not much I can say about the ending without spoilers. But my goodness my heart hurts. I'm hoping it'll be stitched back together in the next book, which is coming out soon!

So every other book in the series is like a 4.5 or 4.75 and this one is just a 4 star read.

Even though I loved this book, I think there could've been more; more information, backstories, and explanations. Just more.

 Oli is really coming into herself and her powers, but we're missing something or we don't fully know yet... I NEED TO KNOW!!!! Her bonded group is everything, you have a bit of everything there and I am entirely here for it. But seriously J, WHY??? WHY THAT ENDING?????

I can't wait for the fifth book.
