The tales of Beedle the Bard

J. K. Rowling2008
The Tales of Beedle the Bard, a Wizarding classic, first came to Muggle readers' attention in the book known as Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Now, thanks to Hermione Granger's new translation from the ancient runes, we present this stunning edition with an introduction, notes, and illustrations by J. K. Rowling, and extensive commentary by Albus Dumbledore. Never before have Muggles been privy to these richly imaginative tales: "The Wizard and the Hopping Pot," "The Fountain of Fair Fortune," "The Warlock's Hairy Heart," "Babbitty Rabbitty and Her Cackling Stump," and of course "The Tale of the Three Brothers." But not only are they the equal of fairy tales we now know and love, reading them gives new insight into the world of Harry Potter. This purchase also represents another very important form of giving: From every sale of this book, Scholastic will give its net proceeds to Lumos, an international children's charity founded in 2005 by J. K. Rowling. Lumos is dedicated to ending the institutionalization of children, a harmful practice that affects the lives of up to eight million disadvantaged children around the world who live in institutions and orphanages, many placed there as a result of poverty, disability, disease, discrimination and conflict; very few are orphans. Lumos works to reunite children with their families, promote family-based care alternatives, and help authorities to reform their systems and close down institutions and orphanages.www.wearelumos.org

Me sorprendió como están insertados los comentarios, entre los cuentos. No se cuál es mi preferido, los disfrute. Pensar que este libro es muy determinante para lo que ocurre en la saga. Lo recomiendo. Es corto y fácil de leer.

I really enjoyed this collection of wizarding fairy tales and additionally thought Professor Dumbledore's commentary to be similarly amusing, especially the notes following The Fountain of Fair Fortune. Each of the tales taught something different and they were all wonderfully magical. Glad to have picked this up and to have finally read it!

it would've been cool being a wizard child, falling asleep to these bedtime stories every night. J.K. Rowling never disappoints.

Oh it was good to get back into the HP-universe even if it was for a brief time. I had fun reading the stories and DD's commentaries alogn with JKR's. *sigh* I can't believe it is all over.

I like the story is my favorite story was: 1- The Fountain of Fair Fortune. 2- The Tale of the Three Brother. * I see myself telling the stores to my Children :) It’s simple and enjoyable. This is the obvious one but it is one of my favorite quote in the book: “And then he greeted Death as an old friend, and went with him gladly, and, as equals, they departed this life”

Aesop's Fables for wizards! It was a cute book, and the Dumbledore commentary enriched the modern wizarding world that we've come to know and love so well.

“No man or woman alive, magical or not, has ever escaped some form of injury, whether physical, mental, or emotional. To hurt is as human as to breathe.” Well, as usual, J.K.Rowling impresses us with such imagination and the morals she always tries to send us through her beautiful stories. Absolutely loved it!

A fun read for Harry Potter fans of all ages. It's like the Grimms Fairytales, but for magic folk and muggles alike.

This was a charming short read that made me smile by transporting me briefly back to one of my most loved worlds. I loved the way it was set up with Dumbledore's notes. JK Rowling obviously took a lot of time and put in her best effort to make this small set of short stories come to life. Don't miss out on this on and be prepared to feel nostalgic! The audiobook is also amazing and narrated by some of the stars from the movie.

I loved this little book, and especially the tale of the three brothers. I couldn't help but to read it hearing Hermione's voice inside my head. Babbitty Rabbitty and her cackling stump was a fun read, I didn't expect all the stories to be so amusing, but they were. Hopefully there'll be a Norwegian translation of this in the future, I think kids would like this one (maybe except the tale of The Warlocks Hairy Heart - what a sad story;().

I dressed up for almost every book release. I cried so hard when Dumbledore died, and even harder when I finished the seventh book. I eat Harry Potter for breakfast lunch and dinner. How many stars do you think I gave this book??

Enjoyed learning more about the wizarding world and their culture. Even if these tales were made for children I still loved it.
