I read this book in September of last year and I couldn't stop thinking about how much I liked it. 

Kyler and Sydney have been best friends ever since they were kids and both are secretly in love with each other. After getting trapped in a house at a ski-resort during a snowstorm, they are forced to spend time with each other and eventually they admit to their feelings toward each other.

This book hit me right in the feels. I was drawn in and enticed by their friends-to-lovers relationship. All the characters seemed really relatable which helped make the book very easy to read. I felt like a giddy child reading something they shouldn't be throughout this entire book. I was in Sydney’s corner the entire time hope they she would be able to confess her love for Kyler. She was very nice, sweet and patient with Kyler. I felt bad for her sometimes because Kyler always had a new girl on his lap. She was way stronger than I would have been. The only thing that bugged me about her was that she seemed to jump conclusions often causing more issues than necessary. As for Kyler I found him so frustrating at times because of some decisions he made, but he is such a good guy when it comes to Sydney. He was very protective of her, which sometimes would turn into jealousy but he knows her better than anyone. He for sure knows how to make your heart melt for the way he treats Sydney. 

Frigid is a fun, well written and steamy story. Jennifer L. Armentrout is one of my FAVORITE authors. Her books are very easy to read and she makes characters relatable. I highly recommend this ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ star book!

Huh I really liked this one. I missed reading J. L's stories. Simple but great descriptions and a good plot. 

But the characters spoiled this for me. Namely, Sydney. The girl is not really bad, but towards the end, she really began to annoy me, what with all her insecurities that started to lose sense to me. 

On the other hand, Andrea, the bestie who we don't see a lot of... She was the one with the personality.

Oh, and Kyler is hot :3

I was not a fan of this book. This is the second time I tried a J Lynn book that I ended up not liking so I guess her writing style isn’t for me. The characters fell flat for me and I felt like they really needed to look back on their priorities. The mini plot twist wasn’t really a twist in my opinion.

I love Jennifer Armentrout. I love her writing. When I read her books, she makes my life better. I never thought I would find an author whith such amazing good books, where every single one of them gets 5 stars (and I don't give those easily). I'm always excited for what she'll write next, and the whole year I'm waiting like a druggie who needs her next fix. I'm so excited each time I get my hands on one of her books, it's always a pleasure to read. Thank you really.
So about the book, I loved it! It was a sweet book, but a promising one, gives me hope there is love for everyone. I also loved thw whole action thing going on, you'll know what I'm talking about when you read it, haha never a dull moment with her writing, at least something ''out of the ordinary'' had to happen. I loved the tattoo and the meaning and the Christmas gifts! It really is a good book.

Let me preface this by saying I absolutely love Jennifer L. Armentrout, regardless of which name she's using to publish a book. Books published under J. Lynn are generally pretty steamy. This one, though set in a blizzard, was no exception. 

The first thing I love about this book is that it was set in West Virginia. <3 Kyler was hot. Sydney was sweet. I have a thing for books with friend love. I also have a thing for books with great quotes - especially if they're funny one-liners.

“How much snow are they calling for?” 
“Somewhere between a lot and holy fuck.” 

“Guys are totally stupid when it comes to unrequited love. We females pine away and keep our thighs closed for the most part when we love someone we can’t have. Guys swing their shit around at anything that has a hole, trying to forget the one they want.”

Ever since I picked up an ARC of Scorched at BEA, I've been considering doing a reread of Frigid because it's been nearly two years. I couldn't help but jump in this weekend for a little refresher. I remembered the story, but I forgot the finer points, so I'm glad I decided to do it, too. I didn't enjoy it *quite* as much the second time around, but it was still a solid and enjoyable story. 

The friends to lovers trope is one of my favorites and I couldn't help but get sucked back into Sydney and Kyler's story the second time around. If I'm being totally honest, I liked Sydney's character a lot more than I did Kyler. He wasn't a bad guy at all, but I'm a little over the whole "I have a crush on my best friend, but she's too good for me/unavailable/uninterested, so I'll sleep with anything that moves" thing so prevalent in books these days. Do guys really think like this? It just kinda raises my hackles. But, I digress. I'm glad we were treated to chapters from his POV as well, otherwise it would've taken even longer for me to warm up to him. However, since I knew the types of thoughts and feelings he had for Sydney, I was able to connect with him about halfway through the book. 

Sydney was a fun character. She was also a complete and total walking disaster of the klutziest proportions. I'm not exactly "grace" myself, so I get it. I could feel how much she pined for Kyler and how difficult it was for her to watch him hook up with girl after girl right in front of her. (I mean, really, who hasn't been there before?) She was convinced she wasn't his type and he was sure she was too good for him. As much as I enjoyed watching them dance around this, I'd have loved some more direct communication and to have seen this worked out a little sooner in the book. One thing's for sure, even on my second time around, I was totally invested in their story and rooting for them to get it together.

This book has a healthy dose of humor, angst, sweet romance, sexy times and even a little bit of suspense. Being a West Virginia girl myself (ok, kinda...) I enjoyed the mountain setting and the regional humor. Now that I've gotten another taste of Andrea and Tanner, I'm even more excited to read their story in Scorched!

I’m so happy I didn’t read the synopsis of this right before I started reading it. It was great to really not know what the story was about until I got into it. Especially the little added mystery fun, which really kind of caught me off guard… in such a good way.

Kyler and Sydney have been the best of friends ever since “he pushed her down on the playground and she made him eat a mud pie.” Yet they are both absolutely crazy about each other… and completely in denial about it. I’m always a huge fan of friends-turn-lovers stories, so this one was right up my alley.

Though most of this story takes place over a span of only a few days, it was fast-paced and attention-grabbing. I’m huge a fan of the little added mystery aspect. A stalker begins messing with the couple, and the intensity grew severely during those chapters. My heart was pumping pretty quick there for a bit.

The secondary characters, friends of this pair, were awesome and really got some air time in the last 20% of the story. Andrea was such a great friend to Sydney. And though she did some things Sydney didn’t necessarily care for, she always had the best of intentions. Kyler’s buddy Tanner, who also happened to be dating Andrea, was hilarious and really had me giggling a bit. Such a tool, excessively blunt and always telling it like it is… such a great buddy to Kyler. That’s really what he needed at the time.

I wish I had waited to read this story until the winter weather was upon us. I could totally relate to the freezing cold temps in the middle of a snow storm. Though the obstacles that come along with snow fall make it difficult, it’s also beautiful and something I have fond memories of as a child. Being out in the snow, freezing, then coming in and snuggling by the fire with a mug of hot chocolate with tiny marshmallows… Ah, memories…

Sorry, I digress.

I really enjoyed the first part of the book, setting the tone for the story. And the middle with the intensity was awesome. Then the too-sweet ending kind of sapped it up a bit too much for me. Sometimes endings that are “too good to be true” just really rub me the wrong way. Though some may consider it simply a sweet, romantic ending, to me it kind of took away from the rest of the book and turned me off a bit. I know, I know… I tend to be way too hard on romances sometimes. For some strange reason I just can’t take the sappy stuff these days! :P

I’d be remiss if I didn’t say that this is another wonderful book from JLA. No surprise there. JLA is an amazing author that I rarely hear less than stellar things about. As the chilly weather quickly approaches, grab yourself a copy of Frigid, snuggle up by the fire with a mug of hot chocolate, and enjoy this fun, romantic story.

I have to admit that I’m a huge, huge fan of the friends-to-lovers trope. Whether the couple is best friends already or become close friends during the book, it doesn’t matter to me. If it’s done well, if I’m rooting for the couple to end up together, then I’m going to love the book. In this case, Frigid is the story of best-friends-since-they-were-younguns Sydney and Kyler. So of course I had to read this book.

When I pick up a book by Jennifer L. Armentrout (or J. Lynn, her pen name), I know that I’ll for sure be enjoying the book, if not loving it. And though Frigid isn’t one of my favorites of her books, I did have a fun time reading it. I love the way Jennifer writes, which is so real, full of heart, and humorous. Unfortunately, I couldn’t connect with either Sydney or Kyler, so I couldn’t love the book very much. That’s not to say I didn’t like the book at all, because I did! Frigid was never boring, though it did get slow at times.

Sydney is the goody-two-shoes girl who’s always had to watch her best friend Kyler go through his manwhoring ways. And Kyler is one serious manwhore. I don’t really have an issue with guys who have slept with a ton of girls, but I did keep wondering why Sydney kept on loving Kyler even seeing him with hordes of girls. And eventually you get to see a sweeter side of Kyler that he never shows any girl but Sydney. The book is told from both their POVs, though most of it is told from Sydney’s POV, and it’s obvious to the reader that they’re in love with each other. The best part of Frigid is seeing Kyler and Sydney finally realize the depth of their feelings for each other, and yet still keep their friendship intact. They still argue, banter, and do everything that they did as best friends, but they also add the intimacy of being in love with each other.

The book was kind of weird, in that it moved too slow and too fast at the same time. Or I should say that Sydney and Kyler progressed to the hot and heavy stuff really quickly, too quickly for me, and yet their realization of their feelings for each other was just too slow. Most of the time, I was just wishing for them to just get a clue and admit their feelings for each other, because they honestly had no clue how one felt about the other! Of course, this is probably an important factor in stories with the whole friends-to-lovers thing, but still, Kyler and Sydney were just too clueless and oblivious.

There’s a bit of a suspenseful theme to the story that blows up towards the end of the novel, and I was really surprised that the suspense actually got that big and far. But besides this, the rest of the book is pretty lighthearted. If you’re looking for a sweet romance with a couple who is best friends, then Frigid is for you!
