Believe Me

In this twisty psychological thriller from the New York Times bestselling author of The Girl Before, an actress plays both sides of a murder investigation. A struggling actor, a Brit in America without a green card, Claire needs work and money to survive. Then she gets both. But nothing like she expected. Claire agrees to become a decoy for a firm of divorce lawyers. Hired to entrap straying husbands, she must catch them on tape with their seductive propositions. The rules? Never hit on the mark directly. Make it clear you're available, but he has to proposition you, not the other way around. The firm is after evidence, not coercion. The innocent have nothing to hide. Then the game changes. When the wife of one of Claire's targets is violently murdered, the cops are sure the husband is to blame. Desperate to catch him before he kills again, they enlist Claire to lure him into a confession. Claire can do this. She's brilliant at assuming a voice and an identity. For a woman who's mastered the art of manipulation, how difficult could it be to tempt a killer into a trap? But who is the decoy . . . and who is the prey?

** spoiler alert **
Not my cup of tea. But I, for some reason, found it hard to put the book down even though I was confused during the whole thing. This book has a little too many plot twists for my liking (which was probably why I was confused during the whole book), and the male main character is into necrophilia.

Clarie, an out-of-work British actress, pays the rent on her New York City apartment the only way she can: as a decoy for a firm of divorce lawyers, hired to entrap straying husbands. When the cops begin investigating one of her targets for murdering his wife-- and potentially others-- they ask her to lure the suspect into a confession. For a woman who's mastered the art of manipulation, how difficult could it be to tempt a killer into a trap? -- adapted from jacket

Holy fuxxing shitballs!!
What just happened!?

I don’t even know where to begin with this review!
The characters are dark, unreliable and downright psychopathic! I thought I was getting sick of unreliable narrators, but this book changes everything lol! Legit, there might be one character in this book who is a nice, reliable person. The others are probably all going to hell…
Believe Me follows Claire, an aspiring orphan actor in New York. Originally from the UK Claire is looking for a fresh start, however, without a green card Claire is unable to find work… legal work anyway.

Claire’s life takes a dark turn as she fights to stay in America and earn her green card. That’s all I am going to say in regards to this dark, twisted, amazing plot! It’s a crazy ass rollercoaster ride of a book and I loved every minute of it.

A quick word of warning. Do not go into this book hoping to connect and fall in love with the characters, they are all psychopaths lol. This does make for an engrossing and intriguing read. Personally, I enjoyed these characters as they are perfectly horrid people and it was actually a lot of fun taking a peek into their minds. Made me feel nice and sane lol.

I would like to thank the publisher and the author for providing me with a copy of this book! This has in no way affected my views or opinions of the book or the content of my review.

Always amazed by Delaney's craft, writing, her brain that creates these twisted and enthralling stories that I can't get enough of. This was another win for me and a great start to 2019! I'm just blown away but every single detail of this book, especially once I reached the ending. It definitely fooled me to the very end. This is going on my fave reads of the year already!
