Meet Cute Club

Clar o nouă favorita! Iubesc aceasta carte, personajele, stilul autorului, acțiunea. Am plâns când s-a terminat, parțial din cauza finalul, în rest pentru ca SE TERMINASE. O recomand oricărei persoane care vrea o lectură ușoară, placuta, intensă și rapidă.

ngl, i'm really not sure what i just read. the audiobook combined with the skipping pov's had me confused the whole time.

This was so cute! It was exactly what I needed to read during this absolute trash-heap of a time. I loved how it didn't follow the typical tropes that I thought it would: no gratuitous deaths, no homophobic family members. It was so refreshing! I LOVED the writing! The characters had life and Jordan actually spoke like a Black man. I'm obviously not saying that Black people can only sound one way. But a lot of authors have black characters but no black colloquialisms, especially not modern ones. The tone of this book was spot on. The ONLY thing I disliked was the way the 3rd person POV was executed. It was really disorienting at times how the author would focus on Jordan's thoughts for a full two pages then, without warning, we would be transported to Rex's thoughts. I needed a page break or something just to make those transitions more seamless. Sometimes the author did add the page breaks but most of the time, the shifts would be very sudden. Still, so so good and I would recommend it to anyone in need of a feel-good M/M romance!

I was really looking forward to reading this — the premise was adorable, and featured some of my favorite tropes and elements. Unfortunately, the execution was very disappointing. The characters felt a bit trite and fell quite flat, nor really fleshed out. They lacked chemistry, the dialogue was completely unremarkable (lack of good banter in romance is a sin, IMO!) and it all felt a bit forced. The plot felt rushed and oddly paced, moving too fast and lacking details and a sense of progression at times, and then slowing down considerably and including too many unnecessary details or scene descriptions other times. It also lacked continuity in a couple of spots, like a discussion at the very beginning when the main characters call each other by their first names but have never been introduced on page 🤨 One other thing that I found very distracting was how the POV switched back and forth randomly. It just completely messes with the flow! WHYYYY. *sigh* I’m sad. Pity, this sounded so good, but the writing is just... not. I don’t recommend it, even as a quick read, because you will likely find yourself bogged down and not having a lot of fun, like I did. 2 STARS>

this was cute but i wasn’t as invested in the characters or their relationship as i would’ve liked and the pacing was a little off for me

Super cute diverse m/m romance with a lot of really great banter. Perfect palate cleanser between darker or more complex stories.

I did really enjoy this one :)

Yeaaah... Not for me. I was not impressed by anything, from the characters to the plot and the writing. I need a little more depth to a book, even if it's contemporary romance. Anyway. If you're looking for something quick that you can read in a couple of hours just to fill in those blanks in your reading goals, this is a good option. Other than that, I wouldn't recommend it.

2.5 stars. This started out promising for me so I was really sad to see how this developed. This was a stock standard romance plot with little to differentiate it from other books on the market. I really liked the idea of the book club and reading books, but it didn't seem fully fleshed out and lacked substance. It seemed like a random plot point added for banter and complication. The writing style was overwrought with dry description and I felt like I was wading through sentences that could've been a lot more concise. It made sense for it to go on a big for Jordan, a character with anxiety, but Rex had a very similar voice, which didn't make sense to me at all. The romance was also very basic, especially as time went on. They lost chemistry earlier and I just struggled to care. I really want to love this one but I have to rate it low because it was just so uncompelling for me.

Second book for the 2020 reading rush 💕 This book was so cute! And quite steamyyy. This is my first book into the romance genre and I feel this was the perfect book to start with! Would highly reccomend to those who also want to start in the romance genre.

This was such a cute read! I really enjoyed this one, although I do wish it was longer. Every issue that I had with it was due to the fact that it just wasn't long enough and things needed more time to be properly flushed out. I especially felt the ending was way too quick, to the point that it did not make sense whatsoever and completely took me out of the story while I tried to piece together what was going on. But on a positive note, I love love loved the writing style, the characters were really fun to read, and the premise was just *chef's kiss*. Can't wait to read more from this author!

This book was so good and cute! I related so much to Jordan and his love of books and book club. I highlighted so much in this book because either it was super funny or I related so much to it. I think every person who loves reading as much as Jordan and I should read this book!

This book is unbelievably cute. I wish this book was longer than it was. I want more alone time with Jordan and Rex! This is an adorable opposites attract love story. Meet Cute Club follows Jordan, the leader of a book club where they read romance novels. Jordan meets Rex while buying books for the next book club meeting. Rex gives Jordan a hard time about buying romance novels. Later on, Rex decides to find out where the meetings takes place and goes. This is the story about how to unlikely men fall for each other. I had such a fun time reading this book! I wish it were a bit longer, but that's okay. I feel like their story was told. I'm just a spoiled brat that wants more. I also wanted to say that I love both Jordan and Rex's relationship that they have/had with their grandmothers. I love seeing grandmas in books and I love it when they remind me so much of my own.

Jordan Collins is struggling to make his case for a raise at the job he doesn't exactly love but is stable and pays the bills as he also struggles to keep his beloved romance reading book club afloat. Members are leaving and the one bright spot in his week besides visiting his beloved grandmother in her senior community is at risk of ending in a fizzle. It doesn't help the new part time bookseller at Jordan's local indie bookstore is both cute AND a jerk, heckling him about the stack of romances he's buying for the book club. But Jordan is no romance reading newbie, and he's reading to give Rex the what for. Rex Bailey is only in town to pack up and sell his recently deceased grandmother's home but is surprised the uptight yet sexy Jordan is giving him hell. There's only one thing to be done, Rex decides to show up at the next Meet Cute Club meeting. As Rex and Jordan begin a tentative friendship and eventually start dating, they'll both need to confront the challenges holding back their futures. Well this was just so a balm to my romance reader soul. Where's my local Meet Cute Club?! Every town should have one. Rex is quite sarcastic, which took me a minute to settle in to, but he quickly grew on me. Jordan was my fav and his relationship with his grandmother is lovely to see, especially since Jordan struggled with how she initially belittled him while he was growing up and it took some time for their relationship to heal and become what it is after he came out. There was some confusing head hopping during one of the sex scenes, I mostly knew who's head I was in, but the rest of the story did not utilize this narrative device so it did take me a little out of the story. That said this was delightful and poignant and I want more. The author has a full list of CWs included in the first pages of the book - "alcohol/drug use/abuse, mentions of child neglect, mentions homophobia, mentions of diets/retching, on-page sex scenes" Thank you to the author for the review copy.

JACK HARBON HAS MY HEARTTTTTTT !!! SO FUCKING CUTE !!!

so many gr readers seem to love this but it was just lacking in many ways for me - this book is reliant on 'tell, don't show' and essentially only focuses on physical meetings with rex and jordan (so we're TOLD that they text after the fact but we don't see the texts or even a scene where they're not talking to each other face-to-face) - because of that it felt too short and like key scenes with development for characters and the overall story were missing - the sex scenes were super cheesy idk it just wasn't as good as i thought it would be

It was an adorable story, with very well written steamy scenes - I especially loved Jordan's character and I found him to be super cute. His passion for books is something I can definitely relate to. But... There was something missing. A little spark, that oomf, that little thread that connected my heart to the book. It was a story. Cute romance. Flat. That's most of the things I have to say about it. I'd still recommend it - maybe you'll find that thread that I couldn't!

IM SO HAPPY I FINALLY LOVE A ROMANCE BOOK!!!
