Defying Vesuvius

Seventeen year old Aeliana Lucia Gratius, daughter of a wealthy merchant, has always accepted that she would marry the man of her father's choosing. A chance meeting with Cyprian, a poor city guard, causes her to question everything she knows. As she falls in love with Cyprian, she is visited by one of the Fates, Pretia, who delivers an ultimatum: marry the man her father choose or Vesuvius will destroy Pompeii, the only home she knows. Two thousand years after running away from Pompeii with Cyprian, Pretia returns and offers her the chance to return and prevent the eruption.
