Very quick read. Maybe a bit too quick. Once you start to get a feel for each of the characters and an understanding for them your at the last chapter.

I feel like I'm late to the game on James Patterson. I've tried reading him before but have always put him back down. For some reason, Michael Bennett kept me reading. He's a cop, Catholic, a father of ten children... what's not to love?

The back and forth between different perspectives was at first confusing, but I got the hang of it towards the end. Like most books in this genre, its all so unbelievable - but it pulled me in and I like it for what it is. 

There have been a few reviews where I have read people complain about the short chapters. For me, I appreciate shorter chapters or mid-chapter breaks with the books I read that I know are more "fluff" in nature. It makes it easier for me to pick them up and put them back down. 

I've already read the 2nd book in this series (equally unbelievable plot) and plan to read the next. Embrace this series for what it for what it is.

The scene is set for a huge funeral in St Patrick's Cathedral in New York. The rich and the famous from all over America - and beyond - have arrived to honour a former First Lady after her sudden, unexpected death. Then follows an attack that was three years in the planning. Hostages are taken - the ex-President among them - ransoms demanded, a couple of hostages shot to show the kidnappers mean business. It's all brilliantly and chillingly co-ordinated, and Michael Bennett, the detective in charge of the case, knows it will be his biggest ever challenge.
