I have to admit that I read this for the sole purpose of writing my weekly mythology thread, #MingguMitologi. I read this to write the story of Cupid (Eros) and Psyche. Apuleius is a Roman writer, so he uses Roman names, but I prefer Greek names. The Golden Ass containing diverse stories from parable to a love story is probably one of the easier reads from Greek/Roman classics. I say this because I think Apuleius writes in a very direct manner without too many difficult figure of speech and metaphors. This does not discount the beauty of his stories though. I managed to read significant portion of it in a short amount of time, and bonus point: it's available for free online! I'd say this is not a must read for someone who doesn't really read Roman/Greek classics, but it was interesting nonetheless.

I read this several years ago. The main interest to me were the descriptions of daily Roman life that were incidentally included in the tale.

I'll always be a Latin worshipper in my heart. Savuros and comical, it totally brightened my day and it left me wanting to read more Latin signed works.

After Lucius is transformed into an ass because of his curiosity and fascination for sex and magic, he suffers a series of trials and humiliations before being transformed back into human shape by the kindness of Isis.
