Maybe I should have read the first one first? I don't think so. I really don't think it would have helped. I was also trying to say to myself as an excuse that perhaps it was a bad translation. But it is not a translation. I thought maybe it should have never been written in English - but English is the author's first language. Just couldn't get past the bad writing to care about the story line, the characters or the prequel or sequel.
