After it took me ages to read my last book for book club I really wanted to lose myself in a fantasy. This was perfect. Nice short chapters with only 2 main characters. It was so easy to breeze right through. 

It’s got a lot of the same things as most fae books so it isn’t super original. Different kingdoms, fae Royals, familiars and mated bonds. I do feel like Jamie tried to add in bits of her own flair here and there with the ceremony and the Desert Kingdom drama.

The spice was too much for me. For someone who never slept with anyone prior to meeting his mate, Rennick went balls to the wall with everything once he got his hands on Amelia and it made me uncomfortable at times. 

I had to remind myself that the love letters were written while Rennick was young but they were so cringey at times and Amelia’s response back had me dying! I loved that she called him on it. Or at least tried to. 

I know that the author stated at the beginning that this was more romance than fantasy but honestly with the little she did write about it had me wanting more. It was just a teaser of the potential!
