Reviews

4.5 stars! I received an ARC of this book from the author and I voluntarily reviewed it. Thank you Jane Anthony! Ohh man, ALL the feels. This book is about addiction, and how it not only affects the person who suffers from it, but the people around them too. It’s about how fighting it is a lifelong struggle, and not a one-time thing. It’s about how strong a person has to be in order to fight it. There are many instances in this novel where we see characters hit rock bottom and how raw it is. This book was so well written in regards to character development (I don’t know if that’s the right term for it). Anthony shows us how a substance can change a person; how it can make someone unrecognizable. Those characters “personality changes” were just so well done that they felt real. Everything in this book feels REAL. Despite how dark some parts of the book were, it is filled with light as well; filled with the strength of the love between Kat and Chase, filled with hope. It also still has humour that made me laugh. The lighter passages and underlying love in this book balance out the darkness and create something beautiful. Lastly, this book is about family. Not necessarily blood family, but your chosen family. The people you love and keep around you. It’s also about their support and their love. Final note: I was unable to put this book down and pretty much read it in one sitting without stopping. If that isn’t a testament to how good it is, I don’t know what is.
