Despite reluctant parents, Aimee is taken to the travelling carnival to celebrate her 10th birthday. While enjoying all the carnival has to offer, Aimee is lured away from her parents by 10 year-old Kestrel (Kes). Kes is the owner of the carnivals grandson and one of the “carnies”. When Aimee’s frantic parents find her, she is dragged home….but unknown to them she returns every day for the two weeks the carnival is in town to spend time with Kes.

Through the next few years, Aimee eagerly awaits the carnivals return…..the return of Kes. And each year, they spend a wonderful two weeks together. But goodbye always come too quickly.
Things really start to progress the summer Aimee turns 16. This is the summer that she and Kes begin a physical relationship. They begin to plot a way that they can be together for more than just two weeks a year….until Aimee’s father finds out.

Eight years later, Aimee has moved on from Kes, but not forgotten the boy who owns her heart. A chance encounter while taking her nephew to a travelling carnival changes everything though, as she comes face to face with Kes.

Kes invites her to tour with him for the summer…..they can finally get to spend time together without the two week time limit! But a lot has happened in eight years…..both have been in relationships and Aimee has trouble letting that fact go. Kes can’t seem to grasp that Aimee has a life waiting for her at the end of the summer which leads to arguments and resentment. 
 
This was such an entertaining read! Meeting all the carnies and having a look behind the scenes was fascinating and quite educational really. Kes was such a wonderfully strong character…..with a hidden secret. You can’t help but fall in love with him! Totally swoon-worthy!!!

My only gripe? I have to wait until September to see how Kes and Aimee’s story will end……
