Elizabeth Delancy and her husband, Wynn, a mountie, must rely on their faith to see them through hardships, when Wynn is sent to a new posting

When Breaks the Dawn

Having survived the harshness of their first year in the far Northwest, Elizabeth and Wynn, her Royal Canadian Mountie, now face new challenges. Just when they've made new friends and started a new school, they are presented with a new posting. It seems Elizabeth's dreams for a family and home of her own are not to be. Will their love for each other, hope for the future, and their faith in God carry them through the crushing disappointments? Book 3 of the bestselling Canadian West series.

Loved the theme. If God is good, why doesn’t he shield us from sorrow and unanswered prayers? His ways are not our ways. If we draw near to Him, He will draw near to us. Beautiful story!

Elizabeth and Wynn face more challenges as a test of their faith and love.

** spoiler alert **
I can handle general proselytizing, it's par for the course with this genre, but the insistence that white Canadian settlers/Canadian Mounties did not/would not take Indigenous children from their families was too cringey. I was rolling my eyes *hard* at the denigration of Indigenous medicine, and was ready to give this a single star. Only thing that bumped this up to generous 2 stars instead of 1 was because they didn't steal the Indigenous child from his father.
