Y'all. If you want a good romance, don't read this book.

Theodora essentially an orphan. She was raised by her grandfather who for the past 7 years, was sick and senile. She took care of him until he died and he left his estate to her. However, a distant relative has disputed her claims to the estate and Thea has to appear before a counsel in London soon to prove that she has the right to the estate. Unfortunately, Thea suspects that in her grandfather's mental decline he hid the document that proves this for safe keeping. A lawyer-type guy recommends that Thea get married or at least engaged to somehow boost her legitimacy claim (ohh the patriarchy!). Thea has no idea what to do so she visits Stella, the spunky widow in her 70s, at the neighboring estate for assistance. Stella suggests Thea become engaged to her nephew Will, who soon comes from London to visit. 

Will has had his share of heartbreak and is wary of marriage (ofc). He claims he'd much rather focus on his family and his "work". Within the first five min of meeting each other, Thea declares that she doesn't want to marry Will. She wants to go to London first to see all of the eligible bachelor's and even then, marriage is a backup plan if they don't find the document. This is a very valid thought but the story goes downhill from here. Will is intrigued by Thea INSTANTLY and decides that he'll do everything in his power to make sure she's safe and gets to keep her land. Thea goes up to London with him and meets his family, and she and Will fall more and more in love with each other. 

THE ONLY CONFLICT IN THIS BOOK IS BOTH OF THE CHARACTERS REFUSING TO BE TOGETHER EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE EVERY OPPORTUNITY TO DO EXACTLY THAT. I don't understand why Thea claimed to want to keep her estate and be independent but spent the vast majority of the book in LONDON (aka not her estate) not attempting to find the document that would prove her legal rights to the estate and title. She spent most of the book trying to find a backup husband and telling herself she didn't love Will. 

There is nothing keeping these two apart besides their own obtuse selves. Will is hella sensitive that Thea said she did want to marry him after meeting him for the first time. Thea is...idk...dense? Everyone, from the siblings to the aunts, are shipping these two and they just keep claiming they are friends. There is some incredibly jarring flirting that goes on between the two and after that, they go back to saying they're only friends and none of them want to marry each other. All of this combines to make the love scenes extremely awkward and unbelievable.

The writing fell flat for me. So many times I was reading and confused at who was talking or where the scene was taking place. Will's family was too "perfect". The characters had zero depth. Will was FAR from a rogue. I honestly think this book would have been a much better novella.

This one did not disappoint me. As I expected from the beginning I was immersed into this story. I loved all the characters for what they were: loyal, respectful, loving, caring... 
Even though I knew what will be the outcome, I still was at the edge of my seat at times.

As soon as I read the prologue for Rogue Most Wanted, I knew that I was going to be an emotional mess reading the book. My heart shattered for Will. The moment his heart broke, I burst into tears. I wanted to reach through my Kindle and hug him. I also wanted to smack Avalon for hurting him so bad.

The book continued pulling on my heartstrings when Thea was introduced. Her grandfather raised her in a small village that was far removed from London. She was never introduced to London’s ton. Instead of taking deportment/dancing lessons, she was learning how to run and manage her grandfather’s estates. While she was doing that, she was also hiding her grandfather’s condition from everyone, including his heir. Her grief was palpable. There were points in the book where I wanted to hug her too.

I also got angry while reading Rogue Most Wanted. I got upset every time I saw a quote from The Midnight Cryer. That “paper” took Thea’s grief and made a mockery of it. The insinuations and the nicknames were awful. I felt for Thea whenever she read that paper. Because who knows that they were going to print.

Thea and Will had an almost instant connection. I found it funny that Thea was the one to tell Will that she wasn’t going to marry him. Mainly because he was at her house to say the same thing. I loved seeing their friendship grow. It made the romantic connection stronger.

Speaking of their romance, I loved it. Will was instantly struck by Thea and vice versa. The world melted away when they were together. There was a point in the book where I wanted to bash my head against a wall because they wanted to be “just friends.”It drove me nuts.

The storyline about Thea and her quest to find the charter to prove that she was the rightful heir of her title was sad. And again, made me angry. She loved her people. She took care of them. Her grandfather’s heir wanted to move these people to another village and mine. I did think that it was forward thinking of the author to have Thea make a statement before the Council pleading her case. I also found it forward thinking that Thea didn’t want to marry or get engaged so that it would look good for her. She tried to win on her terms.

I was an emotional mess at the end of the book. Thea had to make a choice. No matter what she did, someone was going to get hurt. Will had to come to term with what happened to him in the past. They both needed a miracle so they could be together.
