This book was a great follow-up to the first two books in the Arcane Society series. I was unsure after book 2 whether or not I wanted to continue on with the series. The endings of book one and book two were so similar even though one was written under Amanda Quick (historical) and the other by Jayne Ann Krentz. Thankfully she developed some new ideas for plot lines and story twists making this one a page turner. Although this book could be read as a stand-alone, the story will be easier to follow along if you've read the previous books in this series. Be prepared for this author's style of having long, drawn-out endings. Just when you think the story is over she throws another twist at you. 

I've been reading this author for years under her various pen names and am looking forward to continuing on with this series and others.
