Sadie Slade was the love of my life. I left for college promising her I'd be back in four years. She stayed behind promising me she'd wait. We both broke our promises.When we bump into each other five years later my feelings for her come rushing to the surface. I want her back. She wants me gone. Now he's back and thinks we should pick up where we left off. I miss the simplicity of what we had. I miss how easily we fit together. Truthfully...I miss him.But if I allow him to get too close, he'll see I'm not the same girl he left behind five years ago. He thinks I'm upset about our break up. The truth is so much worse.

This was emotional and had so much healing involved. Without a doubt in my mind, Jack and Sadie were meant to find each other again, and that neither could ever fully move on knowing what they had before wouldn't match up. I thought it was refreshing the reason they ended their relationship was just the promises they made when they were younger had changed and without realizing it they stopped being there for each other. These are two people who have been inseparable since they were kids and have only loved each other but were overwhelmed when their paths went in different directions and made promises that in the end they just couldn't keep. 

 Something awful and heartbreaking happened shortly after they broke up and that changed Sadie and made her feel like she was broken and no longer herself. She has done a lot in that time to try to heal but while she has made good strides she's still very much damaged. Jack in 5 years has managed to get everything he strived for and has been living what he thinks is his best life, but it's also empty and completely devoid of real love. All of that changes when they bump into each other at Jack's friend's wedding and a piece that's being missing for both of them clicks into place. 

Now Sadie has been through a lot and Jack really hurt her when he picked his school and career over her all those years back. Understandably she has gone through so much after and before their relationship ended and despite his persistence to see her again she is determined not to let him back in her life. Jack makes some big mistakes in his desperation to not lose her again that almost costs them their second chance relationship that was building. I liked how flawed they both were and how much they owned up to their mistakes. There was a good amount of time and groveling that took place from Jack, and nothing came easy to get their ending. 

Also, liked that from Sadies POV it took her longer to finish school because of her learning disability. It's sadly not something that's common to see in books or mentioned at all especially romance. I appreciated showing someone who felt like an outsider but never gave up on pursuing her dreams or let that stop her because of it. Also, loved seeing how her best friend and Jack supported her in pursuing her dreams and her recovery. This was a really beautiful story and I'm glad I got to experience Jack & Sadie's second chance romance.
