Pre sente e sous l'Occupation en 1944, cette pie  ce met en sce  ne l'absolu d'un personnage en re volte face au pouvoir, a   l'injustice et a   la me diocrite .

Diese „Version“ von Antigone besticht durch eine einfache Sprache, die den antiken Stoff eindrucksvoll in die Gegenwart überträgt. Die Figuren sind vielschichtig und auf je eigene Weise beeindruckend. Es ist eine zeitloses Werk und genau das macht es so wertvoll und regt immer wieder zum Nachdenken über Moral, Macht und Verantwortung an. Kann ich immer wieder lesen!!

Beautiful insofar as Antigone is beautiful because she is Antigone. Otherwise, anouilh mutilates it all for the sake of the most dreadful cynicism. Truly dismal - Antigone for bureaucrats. I’d kill myself over it if I weren’t too in love with life.

Antigone ist eines der vier Kinder von Ödipus und Iokaste. Die beiden Brüder, Polyneikos und Eteokles töten sich gegenseitig im Streit um den Thron in Theben. Kreon, der Onkel, also der Bruder von Iokaste, wird der neue König. Er lässt den Leichnam von Eteokles begraben, aber den anderen Bruder, Polyneikos verweigert er dagegen das Begräbnis, weil er gegen die Stadt Theben gekämpft hat und daher ein Verräter ist. Antigone beschliesst heimlich ihren Bruder zu bestatten. Als Kreon dies erfährt, lässt er Antigone zur Strafe lebendig einmauern. Der König will auch Ismene, die Schwester von Antigone bestrafen, weil sie von dem Plan von Antigone gewusst hat, dies lässt aber die Antigone nicht zu, sie nimmt die Schule auf sich. Ein Seher und ein Bote überreden Kreon die Antigone zu befreien und Plyneikos zu bestatten, doch es ist zu spät, Antigone ist schon tot. Haimon, der Sohn von Kreon, sowohl aber auch der Verlobte von Antigone, beging aus Kummer über ihren Tod Selbstmord. Die Eurydike, die Gemahlin von Kreon tötet sich ebenfalls. (Kreon regiert noch weiter in Theben.).
