But when it lifts its mouth from my empty shoulders, I can see the world as well as ever - in fact, things have a lucidity I had never before imagined, and I think, What an effort it was to have to lug my head around with me for so long.

The premise - two teen sisters living off-the-grid after society seems to have collapsed - was never that believable. Even worse, these girls are boring, never doing much until the end, (view spoiler)[when one of them gets raped, gives birth to a child, and then burns the house down so they can "start fresh" or whatever. At that point, I didn't care at all anymore. (hide spoiler)] Hegland is a decent author, but heavy-handed and melodramatic at points. This probably would have worked better as a short story, as there was a lot of filler that bogged the narrative down and didn't add anything. There were just too many obvious plot devices and manufactured angst coupled with boring characters and a lugubrious narrative that made me really struggle finishing this one. Unfortunately, I can't recommend this.

Uh, ne znam, kraj mi baš nije legao. 

Retko kad se desi da mi neka post-apokaliptična knjiga bude promašaj, ali, eto, ova upada u tu kategoriju. Nije sama po sebi nešto preterano loša (mada ima nekih čudnih, sporih i neuverljivih delova, a i Eva je užasan lik), ali kad gledamo ovaj žanr u celini ima zaista boljih ostvarenja.

Možda film bude bolji. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
