I was really curious if this trilogy needed another entry, but was engulfed back into VanderMeers writing starting this back up.

in classic form, he’s shaping a story from various times, angles and perspectives which is often confusing truthfully, but reaching the end always pays off.

a mix of new characters and old ones, we learn more (less) about Area X and the mysterious intention of it all
