Star Wars: Jedi Academy is the first book in the Jedi Academy series. The main character, Roan, wants to go to flight school like his father and brother, but when his application is rejected, he fears that his life will be spent working with plants. However, an unexpected note comes, telling Roan that he has been accepted to the Jedi Academy. Roan decides that it is better than agricultural school and packs his bags. His arrival though, shows him that it is going to be just as difficult for him to fit in here as it was at home in his old school.

Star Wars: Jedi Academy is a fun book interspersed with mixed media and graphic novel elements. Even though this is fantasy, it is easy to identify with Roan and cheer for him as he experiences growing pains just like any other young person. Overall, Star Wars: Jedi Academy is an entertaining graphic novel with lots of life lessons thrown in for good measure.
