Well Traveled
Reviews

I throughly enjoyed this whole series!!!

Most of this book is spent on Lulu finding purpose at the faire. It's how she adjusts to an offline life and the various jobs she tries at the faire. It's also primarily about her growing friendship with the three fortune tellers. Her romance with Dex is secondary to all the other parts of Lulu's new life. The previous books' romances were better integrated into the faire experience. Here the romance doesn't even begin until the halfway point and then rushes through the expected plot points as Lulu rapidly approaches Willow Creek and the book runs out of pages. http://pussreboots.com/blog/2023/comm...

I’m gonna need Jen DeLuca to keep creating renaissance faire rom coms because this just checks off all my boxes.

Not a romance, it's Chick-Lit. I did not see a single spark between the two. We are over halfway through the book and he declares that he likes her. Whaaa? How? Was not a fan of the tarot cards and crystals and whatnot. This is not a love story. This is the story of two people settling, I guess.

Loved this cute little story! Loved escaping the real world with Lulu for a bit

Love it!! I enjoyed returning to the Ren Fair!! This was such a cute book! I loved following Lulu's journey as she found her true self and true love!!

Louisa Malone had her entire life planned until she has an epiphany during a visit to a Renaissance Faire; she is going nowhere. At that point, she literally chucks her life away by quitting her job and throwing her cell phone into a bucket of water. After that, she joins the new friends she has made on the Ren Faire circuit, helping out wherever she can. Most of the summer, she resists the attentions of playboy, Dex, but when they are forced to live together in a small motor home, good intentions go out the window. Lulu knows that her time at the Ren Faire must end because this isn't her life, but she has no idea what her real life will look like.
The women's fiction aspect of Well Traveled made it tough to believe that this could be a romance with a happy ending, especially since Dex doesn't seem like happy ending material, but the author manages to make it work. Most of the story centers around the Ren Faire circuit and many scenes take place with characters located in locations around each Faire, so conflict is minimal, but somehow the plot continually moves forward anyway. Lulu is well developed since most of the story is from her pov, but there are multiple characters that play background roles, and as a result, we never really get their stories. Overall, however, Well Traveled is a gentle addition to the Ren Faire series and made for a satisfying read.

Ahhh I wrote up a whole thing and accidentally closed out the window… ok here we go, I’ll add more to this later -
I LOVED this book, and it was by far my favorite in the “Well Met” series.
And most importantly… 95% OF IT TAKES PLACE AT RENFAIRE!!!!!
I loved Lulu as our protagonist. There was even some closure for the events of “Well Played” (book 2). Highly recommend; if you liked the first book, this one is a must.

I really enjoy this series. I find the Renn Faire setting so whimsical and charming, and it feels like getting a peek into a wacky summer camp. While I liked this latest installment, it wasn't my favorite. I thought it felt similar to the last book, especially with how Dex is perceived. He and Mitch both had that feeling of being portrayed as pretty faces with nothing of substance underneath, but then realizing they have so much more to give once you get to know them. Dex is also repeatedly referred to as this big playboy, but other than some flirting, he never really lived up to the rep. I did like him and Lulu and thought they worked well together. They both come from different worlds, so it was interesting seeing how they would find a balance. Though, I did think the ending resolution was a bit too convenient. Other than that, I thought this was fun but not the most memorable in the series.

Highlights

“What happened between him and Stacey wasn’t his fault,” I said softly. “Sometimes two people aren’t right for each other. Doesn’t make him not right for anyone.”
I love the romance in this book, but more than anything I love Lulu and her mature, compassionate view of the world.
This book gives the closure I wanted after book two!
