I watched shadows cut her face into a collage of features

I wanted to cry for the old me, the girl who gave a shit, who believed I was so broken I couldn't add queerness to the equation. I had only been hurting myself.

There, under the pink-and-white lights of the fireworks, she felt planets away.

Was it a memory if it only lasted for a few days?

[...] as the tires hit the highway, our worlds split into two.

" [...] Oceans, rivers, they're like hope for what's beyond us. But lakes remind me there's beauty where we are."

There were times I had to pause and take it slow with this book because the feelings were too big, but wow. Gorgeous, tender, contemplative; painfully real but astoundingly hopeful. Younger me would have needed this
