King Jaron has taken the throne of Carthya, but after an attempt to assassinate him and with a invasion threat, he finds that he has no friends in the palace, not even his bride-to-be, princess Amarinda.

The Runaway King

Just weeks after Jaron has taken the throne an assassination attempt is made, there are rumours of an upcoming war and Jaron feels the pressure mounting within Carthya. Deserting the kingdom may be his only hope of saving it. But the further Jaron is forced to run from his identity, the more he wonders if it is possible to go too far. Will he ever be able to return home again? Or will he have to sacrifice his own life in order to save his kingdom? The stunning second instalment of The Ascendance Trilogy takes readers on a rollercoaster ride of treason and murder, thrills and peril as they journey with the Runaway King!

This book was just as awesome as the previous one and that cliffhanger chef’s kiss. I was planning on just reading the first two (as I had audiobooks for them), but now I really want to know what happens next! Definitely a big recommendation for anyone who likes a fast-paced, action filled fantasy story ^^
