I am in love with this series. I was a bit surprised by the fast-paced action, but I loved every second of it! Jaron is, and always will be, one of my favorite protagonists. 

It would definitely be interesting to see a side story or something to see how he grows as an adult.

While I still think that the series should have stopped at book three, I rather enjoyed this. I have been an avid Imogen supporter this whole time, but this book made me hate her a little. Jaron was just as stupid this time around as all the others, but that is to be expected. I could have done with more of the other characters, like Roden, Tobias, and Amarinda, but I see why they weren't in it as much.

This was a great conclusion to the Ascendance Series (but who really knows with Jennifer Nielsen lol). By no means was this the best book in the series but it was great to be immersed in the kingdom of Carthya again. I loved how much of a voice Imogen got in this book and the tension between Jaron and her--while painful was very much needed. Jaron's character development was also beautiful to see unfold and I loved him going on this journey of personal growth. Yes, much of the plot was predictable or just convenient but it is definitely a comfort book. It's perfectly nostalgic for people like me that fell in love with this series in middle school and are now in college (wow, time really flies). What really got me was the final line that was the exact same as the concluding line of The Shadow Throne. It perfectly tied the stories together and made my heart melt a little. I would definitely recommend this book if you want to revisit these lovable characters and Nielsen's gripping storytelling

ITS OVER! THE SERIES IS OVER!! I JUST CANT BELIEVE THIS IS HAPPENING. THESE CHARACTERS HOLD SUCH A BIG PART OF MY HEART I JUST CANT. 

The ending made me smiling so damn hard but then the whole thing ended and I was left with a broken heart and the thought: “NoW wHaT?!” NOW WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO WITH MY LIFE?! 

Shhhh, I know that I have plenty of books waiting for me but let me suffer a little and mourn the end of this series.
