interesting book my full review is in the link http://rainydayreadingreviews.blogspo...

Here's a quick rundown for you since I won't be posting a full review. There was little to no character development and I just didn't like Mia. The writing style felt rushed and so did the ending. I enjoyed the premise, but honestly felt cheated out of the ride to the conclusion.

The blurb was promising. And I was super excited about this especially, because I'd just finished reading Red Queen. But sadly, I couldn't bring myself to finish it. First of all, lightning girls rock. An earthquake has just turned upside down Mia Price's life and she now has to basically take care of her mother, and her brother. Everything goes pretty fine, considering most of the city is destroyed. And I'm not sure of how much sense it makes for them to resume school. I mean WTF? I like to believe they were just trying to gain some semblance of normal again, resuming classes, but, how can anyone focus on anything school-related when it's practically the end of the world? Also, while I LOVED the cult that rose from the recent disaster, because it shows how people will believe anything, as long as it gives them a sense of security. (I'd like to think I wouldn't and keep myself sane, but one never knows) It's realistic, and... about the only aspect apart from Mia's peculiarity that stood out to me until halfway I gave up. Mia's and Jeremy's relationship was like this: Jeremy: *stares intently* Mia: *squirms* Hey, those people over there think I'm special. Jeremy: Don't trust them. Trust me. I'm hot. Mia: *hesitates and ponders for a few days until...* Okay! Stay over tonight! Jeremy: I so nailed this. Mia: Oh my god, I think I love him. I want him, I want him, I want him. I kid you not with the I want you part. I think it dragged too much and I felt more and more disconnected by the second because, while a story has to withhold certain information to keep the reader turning pages, I feel this one was withholding too much, and I was constantly confused about what was being tried to accomplish. I suppose it must be somewhat explained in the end, but it didn't hold my attention enough for me to get to that part. :/

Welcome to the end of the world!!! Natural disasters are happening all over the world and it is only the beginning. LA has been struck by a horrible earthquake and it has left millions of people homeless. There are two sets of group trying to gain power in this horrible time The Prophet and The Seekers. Prophet predicated the earthquake would come and now he is saying there is a storm coming that will destroy the rest of the earth. Prophet claims that all need to follow him so they can be saved by the grace of God. The Seekers believe that Prophet is trying to destroy the world and they will do anything to stop him. There is only one person with the power to destroy or save the earth and her name is Mia. Mia is a lighting addict! She has been struck by lightning to many times to count. It has caused red scars to appear all over her body. She moved to LA a year ago with her family to try and get away from the lightning. After the earthquake her world is turned upside down. Her sweet loving little brother has become a stranger and her mother is suffering from PTSD from the earthquake. Mia just wants to survive and keep her family safe but she can feel a big storm brewing and she doesn’t know if anyone is going to make it out alive. Mia is our heroine in this book and I have to be honest she wasn’t my favorite. She was very protective of her family and would do anything for them which was endearing, but I felt she was selfish about everything else. She has all this power but I felt like she was a coward. She does redeem herself by the end of the book, but I felt like it came a little late. I would have liked to see her good side earlier in the book. Jeremy is the love interest in this book. He is a mysterious boy that shows up out of nowhere. He has visions of the future and he has had many visions of Mia and her role in the events to come. I liked Jeremy just fine but I didn’t feel any huge connection to him. There was nothing about him that really stuck out to me as someone to remember or swoon over. He was cute but nothing amazing. Parker is Mia’s little brother. He is one of the better characters in the book. He is a sweet sensitive kid and he is having a really hard time dealing with the pain that everyone is going through. He actually acts upon it and does something even though Mia keeps trying to stop him. I like that he sticks up for himself and does something. This book had some major flaws but over all I did enjoy it. It did drag for a big part of the book, but the ending was really good and full of action. Obviously I wasn’t a huge fan of the characters but the plot was pretty good, and the idea is so original. I have to give Jennifer credit here I don’t know how she came up with this idea but it is pretty brilliant. This is a standalone novel but it is left a little open at the end and there could defiantly be a sequel. I actually hope there is because I felt like this book would be better as a series. I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a good YA Sci-fi book, even with its flaws it was still a very enjoyable read.
