I am now sure I’ve been missing out. Going Too Far tells the story of Meg, a girl who does a lot of careless things. She lives in the moment, never making plans and never committing to anyone for more than an evening. She has casual sex with boys she shouldn’t, drinks, smokes a little pot now and then, rides around on her motorcycle without a helmet, and pretty much makes her parent’s lives as miserable as possible. This is all surface stuff, what everyone sees, making everyone assume is just another punk kid with blue hair who doesn’t really give a crap about herself. I never really imagined her reasons for living so recklessly…neither did, Officer John After, who this book is also about. Officer After is a good cop; a little harsh sometimes, but a mostly good. When he takes Meg and her 3 friends in for trespassing on the bridge where, years before, some kids lost their lives, he makes it his mission to teach them a lesson, especially Meg. She has to go on a ride-along with him for a week, which isn’t the worse thing in the world because Officer John After is really hot. Totally. Hot. He’s tall, blonde, muscular and has these beautiful, haunting brown eyes. Each night they get to know each other better and we slowly start to understand why Meg acts the way she does and why John would choose to stay in town after graduating from high school. It was difficult not to fall for John. Aside from being hot, he’s smart, funny and considerate. He takes his job very seriously and Meg realizes that even though the attraction might be reciprocated, he would never act on it while on this assignment. But after….? :) John, however, wants more than just a hook-up (because he’s that damn dreamy) and getting Meg to admit how she really feels without fear is a lot trickier than he anticipated. Meg’s challenge with John is getting him to realize that he could be doing so much more with his life. Her method of getting him to see this though, doesn’t exactly turn out as she expected. Overall, this book was amazing. I just could not put it down! It completely filled some book void I having been experiencing this past week. Thank you, Ms. Echols, for getting me out of that rut. I think fans of Sarah Dessen, like myself, would really love this, so go out and read it if you haven’t yet!

Ugh, I don't know how this book ended up on my holds list and it was pretty disappointing. I was hoping for a smart, feminist main character, but instead got a damaged girl who just needed the love of a big strong guy to put her on the straight and narrow.

So I reread this book because one day I had a vague remembrance about a book I read where a girl fell in love with a police officer that arrested her. I couldn't remember the name of the book and I remembered only vaguely enjoying the story, but for whatever reason I had an urge to reread it. As you do.

During my re-read I enjoyed this book a lot more than I remembered I did. I read it in the space of 24 hours. It is not anything spectacular. It has some decent characters in with decent character development and everyone was certainly likable. I think I basically really enjoyed the romance. I am not a huge fan of insta-love, as this books romance felt like. I mean after a couple of weeks they're in love? I don't think so. But sometimes you need to read that cheese. And that's what this book is. It's cheesy. It's over the top. With all this strange drama and unnecessary drama that keeps John and Meg. But that's what I fancied reading. I enjoy reading drama and romance a predictable book that leaves me feeling all warm and fuzzy inside when I finished. And that is what I got.

I'm glad I reread this. It got a four star rating simply because it left me with a smile on my face when I finished and that's what I like when finish reading something. I like it to leave feeling something at the end. I tend to prefer happy endings, but really as long it leaves me feeling something then I feel it's done what I wanted. Unless I'm feeling boredom at the end, then it's failed epically in its intentions. But this one didn't, thank God.

I loved this! It was funny, romantic, and a little sexy ;) I love Meg's character and I instantly fell in love with John. Great characters + wonderful plot = a new favourite of mine that I'll definitely read again

But they're about to discover that they have a lot more in common than either one of them could have dreamed and, as they're forced to spend time together, sparks fly and a hot attraction between them becomes undeniable…
