The Last Summer A Novel
Reviews

Oh boy, oh boy. I was expecting so much from Jennifer Weiner because I keep hearing about her book. This was a miss from me. My main complaint? The cheating. I don't mind a little bit of well written cheating, but when EVERY character cheats, it feels like the author lacks creativity. It felt like in a teen drama TV show when every season a character gets pregnant because they don't know what to do with their storyline. It's unfortunate because I really like the first part of the story where every character tells their story, but the way they all acted and reacted after that didn't work for me. And it's a pretty long book, a lot could have been cut out to make it more enjoyable, in my opinion. My least favourite line : « She'd taken a faithful man and made him a cheater. » That's not how it works. If the man is in a relationship, it's not the other woman fault. He DECIDED to cheat. He IS the cheater. I'll still give JW another chance with her highest rated book.
