This book was ridiculously difficult to get hold of and I have no idea why. I ended up purchasing a second hand one from Amazon.
It's the final book of the Missing Series dedicated to all the readers that asked for. In between this Missing Book series was made into a TV with some adaptations of the book, I love how smoothly Cabot intertwined this into Jessica's story making it fit so easily and with humour! 

What happens when it's a few years on, Jess had to use her gift of finding people during the Afghan war and returns home powerless. Jess is lost, pushing people away and trying to get away from the terrors she witnessed during her deployments East. 

Of course we can't expect a book with Jessica Mastriani to be smooth sailing. Of course when he ex Rob Wilkins shows up asking for her help finding someone close to him Jess' world flips on its head once again. Jumping on a plain from New York back home Jess finds herself tied up yet again with illegal amateur porn rings, the mob, and overbearing mother and an ex with more than she bargained for and a whole lot of soul searching. 

How can Jess help anyone without her powers, can she bring herself to figure out her life and my god will she get a happy ever after with Rob. 

A new Jess with a razor sharp mind and less fists finds herself doubting her whole identity, fighting with the past and struggling to navigate her future. 

Am I surprised that Jess and Rob find themselves into dangerous waters again? NO. Am I shocked at the tensions between them and the burning love and loss between them. No I am shocked that Her bestfriend Ruth is found with her Jess' brother in her bed. Hell yes! 

As the book goes on we see new faces, old faves (I still love Chick) and find comfort in the progression of her older brother Douglas. What will Jess do when her mother has one path set out for her but her heart tells her another?! 

SPOILER! 

she finally puts herself back together and gets her now successful, educated, dedicated man and I could not be more happy. What a full circle!!! 

Overall I am so pleased with how this book tied everything together and highly satisfied with the outcomes. LIGHTENING GIRL STRIKES AGAIN!

           I was going to review books 2-5 individually. I promise I was.

But, I could not get through them. I started skimming. Skimming real bad.

Why?

Well, I didn’t just quit because the premise was interesting – struck by lightning and now she can find missing people. Plus, I have read almost everything else by Meg Cabot.

But, I just hate Jess, the main character. She is just TOO sassy. Sincerely. And how the FBI is obsessed by her. And it is very much something written for young adults, but with way too much sexualization.

But, the redeeming factor in this novel? Rob, the love interest. He is a real person. He is believable. He is loveable.

Okay, so, the first book was reviewed here.

The second book, Code Name Cassandra, was interesting and better than the first because Jess became a more realistic character as a camp counselor where a father who lost his daughter finds her. We get Rob again, and this short book is well paced and actually interesting. I enjoyed this book.

The third book, Safe House, is where is started to go down hill. People, well, one person, was killed. No, please, don’t go this route (15 years after it was released). This just goes off the deep end for a story. Again, Rob saves it. Honestly, I wish this story was actually told from his perspective.

The fourth book, Sanctuary, is again a murder mystery. This time with a deranged group killing teens. Just, why? Why?

And the final book, 1-800-WHERE-ARE-YOU, goes back to what I really didn’t like in the later Princess Diaries books, even when I was into them. We pick up 3 years later, Jess is now 19, and guess what, she had been working for the FBI in the war, now has PTSS, lost her powers, oh and broke up with Rob. I LITERALLY SKIPPED TO THE END THEN WORKED BACKWARDS TO JUST READ SCENES WITH ROB. That was it. And when I did that, I realized that I would like this novel if it wasn’t connected to the rest. Because it was ALL Rob and Jess. And Jess finally grew up.

So, yeah, maybe only read the last one. The first to explain the last. And just, ignore everything in between.

One of the biggest issues I have is that the 4th book ends with Jess telling her parents that she and Rob are dating, and then WE NEVER SEE THEM TOGETHER AFTER THAT. The next book picks up, and Jess broke them off. And inconsistencies throughout the series from one book to another. Little things that you only pick up by reading them one after the other.

What a great ending to an addicting series. Fast read that I didn't want to put down. I just love Jess and Rob! I wouldn't mind if a new book came out in this series, but Meg Cabot has expressed that she is satisfied with the ending and will not write another.

I actually really loved this book. I was obsessed with the series, and for some reason had no idea that this fifth book existed, so when I discovered that there was another one, it could have been written about anything and I would have been happy.
