The Summer I Turned Pretty Amazon Exclusive Edition

Jenny Han2022
An exclusive edition with reverse jacket poster and photos from the show! Belly has an unforgettable summer in this stunning start to the Summer I Turned Pretty series, soon to be streaming on Prime Video, from the New York Times bestselling author of To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, Jenny Han. Some summers are just destined to be pretty. Belly measures her life in summers. Everything good, everything magical happens between the months of June and August. Winters are simply a time to count the weeks until the next summer, a place away from the beach house, away from Susannah, and most importantly, away from Jeremiah and Conrad. They are the boys that Belly has known since her very first summer—they have been her brother figures, her crushes, and everything in between. But one summer, one wonderful and terrible summer, the more everything changes, the more it all ends up just the way it should have been all along.

I like this book but only because it really does remind me of being a teenager. This book in the series is kind of predictable but it’s a fun and quick summer beach read!

a simple, easy read, but it's got a lot of heart.

the setting gave off the nostalgic summer vibes i expected, and while the story is cliche and cheesy at times, i did enjoy it.

i'm a conrad girl through and through. to me, he's the most complex of all the characters. he's the mysterious, silent, protective type which makes him quite interesting when you see him hide his personal pain from others to protect them.

i think belly was frustrating at times, it felt like she was trying to grow up too much in attempt to fit in with the boys and get attention. i wish she was written to develop into being a little more independent and less naive.

the story itself takes a while to get going, but it was still enjoyable to peel back the layers of belly's relationship with both conrad and jeremiah.

it's got those summer book vibes that you'd enjoy while spending your time on the beach. 🐚

P.S. tv show > book

I feel like the whole book was written simply for the ending (the ending was pretty good, raw and emotional, but not enough to carry the book.) The way the author describes the main character made me dislike her, she seemed too childish and selfish. I wasn’t a huge fan of this book but I can completely understand why others may enjoy it :)
