Reviews

Well, every now and then I like to pick up something without reading any reviews/info/description and whatnot, and just read it. Well, as you can see I didn't like it. I was expecting a nice, funny sci-fi adventure of some kind but it ended up being a silly slice-of-life story about a girl going back in time to prevent herself doing bad things and taking wrong decisions. Oh well, that wasn't my cup of tea. The artwork was nice, which is why I gave it one more star. Not saying you won't like it if you're into stories like that, but just that it wasn't for me.

What would you do if you had a time machine? Why, go back in time and try to fix your un-sexy mistakes, of course! Fink uses this interesting framework for her memoir on growing up. However, while the book starts off with a lot of silliness and sex, Fink also addresses some serious questions about how to cope with past traumas, and how not to let negative and painful experiences control our present lives. The art in this volume is pure Fink (which is a very good thing). Her characters are expressive and easily recognisable, and the pages are dynamic. My only complaint would be that the book feels a little bit disjointed. There is not a lot in the way of an introduction, and her deeper messages would have been strengthened had she centered them in more of a cohesive narrative. However, this was a fun read that I would most definitely recommend to other indie comic fans.
