I almost gave up on this book of 5 short stories by Jess Lea, chalking it up as “not for me”. I started at the beginning with the first 3 stories involving discipline, punishment & power of an older woman over a younger. The first two I read and I stopped in the middle of the third when I realized it was similar. So these kind of stories just aren’t for me. I’ve read stories before along these lines that didn’t bother me - could be they were “lite” versions? Probably why Jenny Frame’s Charming the Vicar is my least favorite of hers. 

I actually quit after the third, and then read reviews that said the last two were faves. So I went back and yes, they were better for me. The last story “Making Up” was my favorite. It reveals that Backstage on a soap opera can be more of a soap opera than the TV show itself. 

So 3 Stars - it was well written.
