Absolutely amazing. I picked up this book while I was on a 3-month road trip across west of the Mississippi and it couldn’t have been more perfect. Speaks ugly truth about consumer culture and shows the treasure of a truly minimalistic life.

A really depressing read about getting older in America without a safety net. Suffered badly during the recession, lost your job due to sickness or just growing older? This book chronicles a group of people ("houseless") who hit the road in RVs and vans, working dangerous & poor paying temp jobs in for the sugar beet harvest, or as camp hosts or really terrible warehouse work for Amazon. Amazon especially seeks out these temp rolling workers with their "camper force" program. Ugh. While this is a quick read, it's also a sad one to read on a Labour Day weekend.

It's an interesting story, and one that absolutely needs to be told and seen by as many people as possible. I just think it would've been a lot less tedious as a newspaper series or magazine article.
