Princess of Glass
Reviews

Reread: I liked this story more than the first. The adventure was fun and I enjoyed the mystery and friendships throughout. This version of Cinderella was also a really unique one. Although, I did feel there wasn't a lot of character or relationship development. Again, like the first, I would have enjoyed this story more if it had those two developments.

From my experience, Jessica Day George's books have proved to be light, fun, and inventive reads. Well, Princess of Glass definitely fit in that description. I loved the unique way that she retold the Cinderella story. It was so much different than any other Cinderella story I've read/seen, and I loved that. Creativity = very epic. (Do not doubt the mathematical accuracy of this formula. XD) The characters were loads of fun, though I have to admit, some of them acted rather ridiculous most of the book. (I suppose that wasn't really their fault...you know what I mean if you've read this. ;)) OKAY, BUT POPPY. She was the best. I liked her a LOT more than Rose from the first book. She just felt a lot more fleshed-out and interesting than Rose. I loved the thoughts going through her head. *chuckles* SO YES. It was a fun, fluffy read. I thought the resolution of conflict near the ending felt rather rushed and *cough* lame. But all in all, I heartily enjoyed this book and can't wait to see what the author has in store in book three!

I always have a BALL, if you will, (ha get it) every time I read these books. Though Poppy's story is harder to get through than Rose's or Petunia's I still love it all the same and will continue to reread years and years from now!!

Pretty good, though lots of misspellings and bad grammar

I feel like catching up with a series that I have started years ago is a pretty mixed thing to me. For example, I had read the first installment of The Princesses of Westfalin Trilogy 10 years ago and enjoyed it. So the thought of getting around to read the remaining installment stuck in my mind. I finally found working epub files as of lately and decided to read Princess of Glass leisurely (this isn't in my primary TBR now that my book taste had changed over the last decade). Due to the dramatic shift in my book preference, I didn't enjoy Princess of Glass as much. It's a pretty fun and easy fairytale retelling (inspired by Europe) but I feel like the characterisation and worldbuilding could have been better fleshed out. So I often find that the plot was difficult to follow and they don't really stick. Nevertheless, even though I didn't enjoy the book it is still interesting to pinpoint how my book preference changed and reading a book from an unfinished series that I had started in my formative years was one way to pinpoint how my bookish turn ons / offs evolve in time. Nowadays I have been more focused on solid characterisation, worldbuilding, and more diversity - factors that contributed to why I deprecated the old series that I had started way back then. (2.5 stars out of 5)

I loved this book very quick read and way cute story. If you like Shannon Hale you will like this author.
