I wanted to press hard enough against his teeth that they'd begin to separate, growing further and further apart until they broke his mouth open so wide I could crawl inside. I lifted my hand away and peered into the cavern of his throat. It was too dark in the room to make out its contours; the streetlight through the sheer curtains was faint. Her pleasure was genuine, but I had at times wondered whether there was an attempt to bind us to her through her cooking. Food is sacrifice; now sacrifice back.

It was hard to predict when my mom would want to caretake and when she'd want to be cared for, when she'd want to play parent and when child.

This book draggggged on the back half. I liked the concept but it got way too literal and repetitive in the last 150 pages. Thematically interesting, the writing was good enough but the pacing just wasn’t there.

SHE ACTUALLY DID THAT AND IM TORN….. i loved this book. i love weird girl books so much. Olive you are such a freak. Jessica Gross you are fantastic at making the mundane and impossible work so well together, I can’t wait to read more.
