The writing is phenomenal. There’s no other way to put it. But besides that I didn’t „enjoy“ this book. It made me unbelievably sad. My heart ached for Ruth and having myself two sisters this book was not a light read. It was heavy and sad and heartwrenching.

This felt so strangely personal and intimate. I read it basically in two sittings (only stopping on the first one because it was 3am and I was crying). Cave's portrayal of people is so realistic it made me instantly feel like I knew who everyone in the book was already. The way she writes dialogue and texting as more like a script made conversations flow and very much reminded me of her one-woman shows. 
Highly recommend, her portrayal of grief feels realistic and heartbreaking, and although I know I cry at a lot of books, I think if you've got siblings be warned and don't read it in public.
