Jewel E Ann's books are almost never a miss for me the characters, the emotion, and the humor just have a way of connecting. She has an off beat sense of humor that works with her stories and characters. That and they are almost always compulsively unputdownable and super easy to get into. I love the chaoticness sometimes that they tend to have. I was surprised how much this book gave me Undeniably You vibes even though there are lots of differences to it. Like I'm not saying Shep is Lautner, Sophie is Sydney, and Swarley is Cersei kind of same but if you've read both maybe you would get it too. Now for me Undeniably You is a favourite so far none of her books have topped it for me so it was nice to get some of those feelings here. Like all of her books you never 100% feel confident saying where it will go but it makes for an unexpected read.

I weirdly almost liked that Sophie was this overly nice character that people took advantage of to the extreme and showed how it's good to be nice but not to the detriment of yourself. Maybe because it was can relatable and seeing her start to take control of her own life was in some ways rewarding. I think she was still too much of a pushover at times but overall I did like her as a character. Shep was a great character he had his own baggage but I liked how he was genuinely a nice guy without being boring. Omg they gave so much second hard embarrassment early on but they had some great banter and lots of fun dialog. I liked how he pushed Sophie's buttons and brought that playful side out. She never had someone who pursued her but was also willing to respect her. It was great just seeing how well they complimented each other, and frustrating she tried so hard to keep him at arm's length. She fought really hard against what was clearly happening. I think my biggest complaint was some things were drawn out longer than needed to be and I'm just glad conflicts at the end didn't drag out too long. Really enjoyed it overall and reminded me why she is one of my one click buy authors.

I finished this last night and fell in love with Sophie and Shep’s story right away. The past week has been tense and stressful around here, and reading this felt like coming home. It was exactly the soul cleanser I needed.

If you’re a veteran fan of Jewel’s books, you know she never misses. If you’re new to Jewel’s books, this would be a fantastic place to start!

What Lovers Do is a hilarious, swoony, heartfelt story of meeting the right person at the wrong time. Dr. Sophie Ryan just broke up with her freeloader boyfriend, except he refuses to move out and she has to evict him. He was supposed to be gone weeks ago, and now, has no idea she’s pregnant, after offering to be surrogate for her sister. Then, she meets Shep at one of the local pet shops, and they hit it off. Shep can’t get Sophie out of his head, and he can’t seem to figure her out. She’s been sworn to secrecy by her sister, and is embarrassed by her ex-boyfriend situation, so her and Shep agree they’ll be friends who don’t talk about the real world. Except, they’re friends who can’t stop redefining “what friends do.”

If you love romance that feels like someone took a page out of your own life, Jewel’s books are exactly that. We all have those authors that feel like they’re writing to your soul, and Jewel is that author for me. I’m always recommending her books because they feel like apart of me!

When I first met Sophie I couldn’t help but giggle because it sounded like something right out of my own household 😂❣️it’s more like Noah’s Ark here 🤪🥰


Jimmy , is Sophie’s no good boyfriend aka her squatter and I’d like to stab him with a blunt pencil ! I know violence isn’t the answer but I understand episodes of CSI so better now 😂🤦‍♀️
Poor old Sophie really hasn’t had much luck in the man department …,

Sophie and Cersei her poodle or doodle 🥰😉 head to the pet shop and I think both are in for a treat when their paths cross that of Shep’s . 


So Sophie is an optometrist, I kept chuckling at my own joke …, “ could she SEE love coming her way “ 😂😂😂😂 


Both Shep and Sophie are beautiful characters …. Shep is divorced and shares custody of his 2 greyhounds but he also walks the dogs at the no kill shelter ❣️🐾 swoon moment right there ! Sophie is in the process of gifting her sister with the most precious gift of life and it’s in that moment that I have to bring in reinforcements of Kleenex and chocolate ….

I just loved all the animals in this book it just added to the vibe of an already brilliant read ! Shep and Sophie made me laugh , like hard snorting laughter , they also made me love and have time the over all warm and fuzzies ….
