I had fairly high expectations going into this book which were, unfortunately, not met. The author spends very little time discussing the actual structure and the building of it. I know that whole books can be written about such topics; I've read David McCullough. The author spends more time talking about Buffalo Bill and Annie Oakley than she does the titular character, the Tower. (Yes, the subtitle includes Buffalo Bill. However, if she had named her book appropriately the locations of each character in the title would be switched.) 
The one good thing I have to say about the book regards the narrator. He was fantastic and one of the few reasons I finished listening. 
While I loved the fact that I had prior knowledge to which I could connect the events of the book, I would have much preferred the book to be written by someone who knows how to transition between topics and when she should just stop talking. The denoumont takes far too long and discusses every character mentioned no matter how briefly. 
I do not recommend this book, at all.
