Really good! Started off slow but then I got hooked. Unexpected story line.

Overall really damn depressing. Even the ending didn’t totally satisfy me like I hoped it would. In a way it felt dragged out in parts and too quick in others. Definitely expected something different even from the blurb

           Not what I was expecting but still good. 

The story follows Emily, a Psychiatrist, in her thirties, married and trying to have a baby. Its told for the first part in two perspectives. Ones is in real time, with her husband Ezra and the other is in letters to her child talking about their father who she met in college, which is where we learn about my personal favorite character, Rob. 

Though keep in mind if you are looking at getting this book the plot refers heavily to miscarriage and fertility. If that's not for you neither is this book. 

Going into this book I though I was gonna get a Love Triangle. Which I am into. That's not really what this is because the book wasn't about her romantic relationships. Not really. Its more about Emily's journey through grief, change and chasing her dreams. (Although Rob > Ezra. Don't @ Me)

The songs in the book are..... Not bops. 

I got this on Audible. The Narrator was Ok. Not my favourite but 2 of the songs were recorded. Which is fun. 

All in all. I liked it but Would Not Read Again/10

If you've read Jill Santopolo's books in the past, you know she is adept at writing a story that asks the question "What if?". What if I had chosen differently, what if this person could love me better, what if I had lived here rather than there....and on. Everything After is no different as the main character Emily questions her life path after a devastating personal loss. 

While the story is intriguing and I enjoyed the setting (NYC!) I felt that some of Emily's choices while struggling with her grief were a bit hard to understand. I appreciated the ending 100% (where other authors tend to glorify the infidelity storyline, this one didn't). And as always, the author leaves you feeling hopeful that the main character will move forward with lessons learned and a better understanding of herself.

All in all, an enjoyable read!
