Ревюто на книгата може да намерите тук: https://the-unusual-booklover.blogspo... - 9/11 is a crucial moment for New York's citizens. The fear, the pain, the despair are in the air. In this situation, Lucy meets Gabe, and they survive the day together. Their friendship, though still young, quickly turns into something more, that bounds them forever. Years later, Lucy is on the path of success, and Gabe is just a distant memory in her mind. Then fate makes their paths cross again, and this time it's different. Lucy and Gabe's characters were brilliantly developed. I knew what their dreams were and what they were ready to sacrifice to achieve them. I got attached to both of them, though more to Lucy because the story was from her point of view. The other characters were also well developed. I didn't love anyone unconditionally; I didn't hate anyone either. All had issues, some - more than others. I enjoyed the LGBTQ+ rep, though it could've been more prominent. The atmosphere, in the beginning, was shocking and intense. There was more to be desired afterwards. I guess Jill Santopolo assumed the reader is familiar with New York from movies, shows and books. The plot was intriguing and confusing at times, just like human emotions. Could you judge some of the character's actions? Yes, but I can easily see why they did what they did. I liked how the story jumped at different points in time because that made it more believable. I kinda knew what would happen, yet I was surprised. And I cried a little. If I had to describe this in 2 sentences, I'd say something like this: Interesting book that will captivate your attention and keep it to the end. Jill Santopolo slowly and carefully breaks the reader's heart till there're only tears left.
