The Lady Gets Lucky
Reviews

YES!!!!!!!!!!! I loved this. The chemistry, the hero and the heroine's personalities, their believable insecurities and the way they help each other grow. YES!!!!!!!! Alice Lusk is my new favourite romance heroine ever. If you've read Devil in Winter by Lisa Kleypas, this has similar vibes, but I liked it so much more.

So so cute! Really loved both Alice and Kit. So much chemistry between them! My heart went out to both of them, they really deserved their HEA. Setting was unique in a few ways 1) New York (while most of HRs I've read are set in England) 2) heiress who has hobby turned work 3) a romance novel with duke where duke isn't the main romantic hero (I would like to read book about him later however). Also I really liked narration by Kit Swann.

*4.25 stars - LOVED this

From what little that I've read, there weren't major flaws to this historical romance. I simply lost interest ⅓ through. The characters were fine and the direction of the story seemed to be going somewhere but the writing style wasn't engaging and overall dull. At first, I thought I was was in a weird funk since the reading slump took a toll out of me early this year then after putting this read aside for a few days to clear my head, I've realized I simply didn't care enough about the story and if (which is obvious they are) the characters will end up together. I've lost all interest in going back to finish this. I'm sure some readers would find this historical romance entertaining enough to complete but to me, this novel was more so 'It's me, not you' type of read.

One the best historical romances I’ve read in awhile! I technically haven’t read the first one (I always read these types of books out of order because it’s more so the characters than the plot I enjoy) so it was missing a bit of the background but everything else made up for it. Kit and Alice are a match made in heaven; they’re both adorable with realistic problems and concerns. 11/10 for their relationship

This was my first Joanna Shupe book, but it won't be my last. I love the trope of a shy wallflower propositioning a rake for bedroom tips. It always leads to a fun time, and this was no exception. I loved Alice and Kit right from the beginning. Alice was very quiet and, thanks to her mother (who I hated), had zero self-esteem, so watching her blossom with every interaction with Kit was delightful. I loved how she transformed into such a confident person around him. He took such care of her and always made she was okay. It was so sweet. I also liked watching him shed his layers and open up to Alice in return. This felt a bit tame at times, but the slow build-up was satisfying in the end. I've already ordered the other books in the series and can't wait to start them.

4.5 stars ✨ 2🌶️ Omg! I have been missing out. This was my first Joanna Shupe book and I was so delighted at how good it was! Kit, what a swoon worthy rake. And Alice! Even though the book was short, I could really feel her development, strength and belief in herself. And it was surprisingly hot!!! This was the first historical I’ve read that was fully set in America, specifically in NYC in the 1890’s, which is later than I’m used to reading in my historical. And I LOVED IT. The setting gave the characters more freedom than I’m used to reading in my usual historical romances. Can’t wait for more!

Amazing. Flawless. One of my favorite books of the year.

This latest novel by Joanna Shupe has completely stolen my ❤️. This book was unique, captivating, and moving. I loved how the heroine was this timid shy woman at first but by the end of the book she finds her voice, confidence, and independence. I thought her interest/ trade was unique and I thought it was cute how besotted the hero was with our heroine from the beginning and he is a cinnamon roll in a rakes body. All he wanted was the heroine's happiness at the end. It was beautiful from beginning to end.❤️😊

I just fell MADLY in love with this book!!!!!!! Everyone needs it in their lives!!!!!

Heiress Alice Lusk wants to become a siren to escape her fate of being married solely for fortune. She's also secretly becoming an excellent chef thanks to the tutelage of her family's hotel chef. Her connection to this master of cuisine (and her own secret prowess) land her into a sexy pact with rake and party boy Christopher “Kit” Ward, who is looking to start his own supper club. He'll exchange siren lessons for recipes, discovering along the way he's entered a bargain that will cost him his heart. While I did not connect with The Heiress Hunt, I ate up The Lady Gets Lucky like one of Alice's babkas. Serious chemistry, painfully delicious pining, and oh so much steamy goodness, I loved it. Shupe also deftly interwove a difficult plotline involving Kit's friend's alcoholism. CW: emotional abuse from a parent, parental manipulation, alcoholism, death of a secondary character Thank you to Avon for the advance copy.
