A Woman's Words

A Woman's Words Emer and Female Speech in the Ulster Cycle

Joanne Findon1997
A theoretically-informed analysis, from a feminist perspective, of the represeentation of emer, wife of the Irish hero Cú Chulainn in four linked medieval Irish tales. Emer and the narratives in which she appears are considered as literary constructs, and examined in the historical and legal context in which the tales were created and received, as well as wider context of medieval literature in general.
