Before. In the Autumn of 1888 Jack the Ripper murdered five prostitutes in London, England, in the most gruesome manner imaginable. The murders remain unsolved to this day. Present Day. When, in 2004, prostitutes in Deerfield Beach, Florida are murdered, Broward Sheriffs Office Chief Henry Patterson enlists the aid of ex-MPD detective Jack Lacey and his friend, Jeff Stone, to help in the search for the killer. A person who signs himself Jack the Little Ripper sends letters to the police. Seven prostitutes are murdered, after which the killer vanishes, only to resurface again a year later. Lacey believes a copycat killer, one who has studied Jack the Rippers methods extensively, is responsible. With the help of the Internet and a lot of research, he begins to discover the motive behind the prostitute murders and to arrive at the truth.
