Aside from kiddie books and humorous ones, this is my favourite book so far. A clear winner. It's severely underrated and should be obligatory lecture over many better-known works. While it's not perfect (it takes a bit for some of the characters to start showing depth, others never start, but might not need to; some dialogue can border on xenophobic, but given the postwar setting, it's understandable) and can only be "read for the first time" once, it holds up to many rereadings and touches on a variety of topics and techniques, with a very interesting narration style, some humour peppered throughout, covering a wide range of seemingly unrelated topics, adding some fight, suspense and military scenes as well as cultural references, hints of romance, feelings and other relationships of all kinds, combining the mundane and trivial with the life changing revolutionary. My review isn't doing it any justice, I'll surely edit it upon my next reading.
