The Fault In Our Stars

This book was stunning, heartbreaking, and captivating. A book I will always think about and is probably the best book I've ever read, I doubt I will be able to read this book again. 

I found myself sucked into the story faster than any other book I had read, The fault in our stars is one of the only books I have found myself binging the whole thing. I haven't read anything else by John Green so this was my introduction to him as well as his writing. 

I would whole heartedly reccomend this book with no doubt in my mind but I cannot bring myself to read it again.

Okaaay, there was a moment that I felt really connected to Augustus Waters and Hazel Grace, but I lost that somewhere in the middle of these pages. The problem of predictability hung in the air for the whole book and all I wanted to know at times was how will this end... The emotional thing quite couldn't connect for me, but yeah, the book wasn't that bad. It has its ups and downs.

But it’s impossible for me not to say a few things about it... John Green has become one of my favorite authors. I only just discovered (and fell in love with) his books in 2010, so I was really excited about this one. Everything I love about his writing is present; his sense of humor and his intelligence. I honestly feel smarter after reading his books. He makes me think about things in ways I never considered. It’s one of the reasons I love reading so much. I’m happy I can depend on John Green to deliver. The Fault in our Stars gives us such an honest and realistic view into the world of people suffering and living with cancer. But in the middle of all that, two teens–star-crossed lovers–showed me just how true love can bring happiness in the face of anything. To cherish the people in our lives while they are in our lives. That life is sometimes not fair; it’s not a wish-granting factory after all. <blockquote>”As he read, I fell in love the way you fall asleep: slowly, and then all at once.” – pg. 125</blockquote>I must also mention just how much Augustus Waters stole my heart. Stolen so. completely. Oh, and I can’t stop reading this quote... *happy sigh*<blockquote>”I’m in love with you, and I’m not in the business of denying myself the simple pleasure of saying true things. I’m in love with you, and I know that love is just a shout into the void, and that oblivion is inevitable, and that we’re all doomed and that there will come a day when all our labor has been returned to dust, and I know the sun will swallow the only earth we’ll ever have, and I am in love with you.” – pg. 153</blockquote>While I didn’t bawl as some people have, I did shed my share of tears the last third of this book. However, I was not left shattered or left feeling heavy, though it’s not a book to read if you’re looking for happily ever afters. It left me thoughtful and thankful.

Despite going in knowing this book is about kids with cancer (read: cliche!), the story touched parts of my soul I didn't even know I had. I actually cried (I never cry over books...ever) and will forever be surprised at how deeply this book affected me.

Pese a saber casi todo lo que iba a pasar, porque incluso había visto la película antes de leerlo me ha parecido bien, me gusta la trama y pues me ha transmitido ciertas cosas, obviamente me transmitieron más las cosas que no sabía.
Es una historia rápida, lo que me gusta y no me gusta es que está llena de metáforas por parte de varios personajes, me gusta pues transmiten bastante, pero no me gustó porque me costó entender muchas de ellas. 
El final ya lo sabía, me gustó, me llamó la atención y ya está, lo malo como dije anteriormente es que Gus dice cosas en la carta que me cuestan entender, aunque admito que estoy  combatiendo mi problema leve de dislexia. Por lo demás me gustó la historia que ya conocía. 
Lo volvería a leer solo para entender las pequeñas cosas que no entendía (metáforas y algunas frases).

According to author John Green, The Fault In Our Stars was inspired by his friendship with Esther Earl, who "redefined the process of dying young for me." He cautions his readers not to take the novel too literally however, stating that he doesn't "want people conflating Esther with Hazel (they're very different), and it's extremely important to me that I not claim to be telling Esther's story. A must read book. The writing will make you truly amazed!

I had heard a lot about this book and finally decided to read it. I flew through this book. The writing was magnificent and the story was sad but easy to follow. The ending was bound to happen but was sad to see. Overall it's an amazing book with good characters. I would recommend this book to anyone.

a great book for one read. the first time going through, the characters captured my heart and allowed me to ignore the flaws with the book. it falls apart with more rereads, but remains a deeply touching book.

I came into this book thinking it was going to be a touching story and I would cry. However, that was not the case. While the book was packed with meaningful scenarios and metaphors. I did not cry and I finished the book with a sigh. 

The author did narrate the book well and I liked the plot and characters. But not that much. I think somehow I did not feel the connection between Hazel and Augustus, although I did enjoy their conversations with each other. The author did create seemingly real characters with real hopes and dreams. But I did feel like Hazel did not mourn as much. I know everybody mourns and grieves differently but come on? Like weren't you in love or something? 

Truthfully, I liked the movie better and actually cried on that one. But it still was a good read.

20th April 2020: I finished reading The fault in our stars in the evening (my 5th book in the past one year). I have been late to try TFIOS, I know. Most of the people might have read it before or watched the movie, this wasn't the case with me. It is a young adult fiction with a lot of romance which wasn't really "my" genre all this time. John Green changed it for me. TFIOS isn't all about the romantic part. The subtle touch of irony and transience of life made a lot more difference to the plot... Isaac had my sympathy, Augustus was really a "bright child" and Hazel, she was the bravest of all. I have never been so engrossed in a book as I was this time. The end was tragic and brutal with a lot of heartbreak, John Green definitely knows how to trigger those heartstrings of ours. I almost believed Peter Van Houten was a real person and that Price of dawn was actually a game lol, Ahh but now I feel like writing mails to John Green expressing my views about the book.
It will always stay close to me, I was obsessed for a very long time. It barely took me two days to read the book, I was that engrossed! Yes I discontinued the last time I started reading it, I saved it for a good moment. But I was sad the story ended, ended at a sad note, but "Some infinities are bigger than other infinities" :)
