Good that this a "selections from" Muir as opposed to full texts. While I like source material, there's only so much I can read about the beauty of nature. 

Muir says it best (from selected quotes at the end): "No amount of word-making will ever make a single soul to know these mountains."

I did enjoy the description of his boyhood in Scotland and early days in the US (Wisconsin).
