Stott argues for the following thesis in this 30 page booklet: "First ... submission to Scripture is part and parcel of our acknowledgment of the lordship of Jesus. Second, that submission to Scripture is fundamental to everyday Christian living, for without it Christian discipleship, Christian integrity, Christian freedom and Christian witness are all seriously damaged, if not actually destroyed." 

It would have been helpful if this was another 30 pages and he elaborated on what Biblical authority actually looks like in the life of the church, but his aim was more basic: to show that biblical authority actually matters. 

Accessible and helpful, even nearly 50 years after it was first published.
