The Maid and the Crocodile 

Gosh this was so emotional and refreshing. It wasn't like anything I've read before. My only critique is that the "problem" was resolved so quickly and fast, but other than that, I absolutely adored this book!

I am not the biggest fan of this author’s writing style but this book was pretty compelling. Our main character Sade is a maid that has the ability to eat curses. You might want to read the Raybearer duology first, if you don’t want that series spoiled. There are chapters that go into the events that take place in that duology (albeit done in an info-dumping manner). If you like fairytales and underdog main characters, this fits the bill.
