7th book of my Covid-19 isolation. I bought this book in 2016 and picked it up in 2020. I was in the mood for some Saramago and needed a break from all the romance I've been reading lately. The storyline is quite simple but complex, much like others from the author. I really liked the characters because they all were far from perfect. The novel's setting was also right up my alley - the neighbourly feeling of a building in Portugal, in 1952. It's a very good book to initiate your Saramago journey!
