He leaned closer to her ear, his breath tickling her. "When they ask, I want you to tell them that I'm a monster." As he said it, his thumb pressed into the cut along her collarbone that she'd forgotten.

*I want you to tell them you're doomed to me."

"No one else is allowed to kill you," she said in response.

"Then you should be glad I saved you the honor."
