After all of the books on Lebanon/The Levant I've read this year this is the first one by an actual Levantine. This is a short but enthralling read that's part poetry, part memoir, part sociology study. Its clear that the point of view portrayed in this book is very much from the perspective of Haddad and shouldn't be taken as a blanket view of Arab Women as a whole but it truly is an interesting perspective that can resonate with a lot of Middle Eastern and Western people, specifically women.
